Introducing date-based pricing windows
Date-based pricing windows are now available. This new feature allows packages to have multiple date-dependent prices, allowing early-bird pricing, flash sales, last-minute registrant pricing, and more!
This feature is enabled trip-by-trip on the Trip Details page under the new Package Pricing Strategy section. By default, trips will be set to Fixed Pricing, which is how pricing is currently handled.
When a trip is set to Date-based Pricing, the user interface on the Create Package screen under the Packages & Add-ons tab will change. Beneath the package name field, an additional row of inputs (name, valid from, and price) will appear. The name field will default to being called Base Price, but this is editable. The valid from date will be the day passengers will being to see the price (at 12 midnight eastern time.) Additional windows can be added by clicking Add Package Price.
Some important things to note:
- The name field of the pricing window is an internal name only. This will not be visible to passengers. For instance: if the package name is Student Quad and has an early bird price of $2,000.00 and a standard price of $2,100.00, the passenger will just see a package called Student Quad with the price that is valid for the day they are looking.
- In most instances, packages with more than one pricing window will be treated as one package. For instance: the Per-Passenger Package Breakdown on the dashboard will show the net total of folks who selected Student Quad and will not subdivide the count based on pricing window.
The exception to this is the Revenue Breakdown Report under Trip Finances, this will segment the packages based on their pricing window. - In the event that a passenger is in a pending status and a package's price changes at the time they confirm, they will be charged the price at time of confirmation.
- The Package Pricing Strategy may be changed from Fixed Pricing to Date-based Pricing after a trip is created, but cannot be changed back once multiple pricing windows have been added.
