Distributing Payments For Late Registrants

GroupCollect Register users now have an additional method to handle late registrants. Starting today, there will be an additional setting on the Trip Details screen, How should late registrants pay? By default, this will be configured to Catch Up on All Previous Payments- the current methodology wherein travelers who join late in the registration process must catch up on all payments at time of registration or at the next payment date (depending on the business-level setting Allow passengers to only pay for their deposit?)

The new option is Pay Deposit + Distribute Remaining Payments. If chosen:

Passengers will be required to pay their deposit and any other up-front expenses (such as travel protections and add-ons).

For the remaining payment schedule, the passenger’s remaining balance will be charged an equal amount on each remaining payment date.

For example: a tour has 10 scheduled payments. The total cost is $1,000.00 with an equal payment due each payment date. The initial deposit was $100.00. A passenger joins between the 4th and 5th payment dates:

At registration, the passenger pays the $100.00 deposit and the cost of their travel protection

On each remaining scheduled payment date, the passenger owes $150.00 (remaining balance of $900.00 divided by the 6 remaining payment dates)

Please note

This feature locks after the first passenger registers for a trip.

This feature cannot be retroactively applied to any existing trips.

Overpayments and donations will behave the same way regardless of how this setting is configured: overages will be deducted from the next payment, the amount will not distribute among remaining payments.

Late payments will behave the same way regardless of how this setting is configured. Any payments missed after registration will be considered past-due.
